Welcome to Badminton Club Leiden!
We are a sociable club, open to all players of all abilities. Beginners and advanced players have opportunity to play three nights a week.
We play at the Vlietland College, Apollolaan 262, Leiden. On Mondays the evening has a recreational character, with a relaxed atmosphere. You will not have trouble finding someone to play with. There is the possibility to attend a training session for beginners and more advanced players. On Wednesdays during the league season (from September to April) there is training for experienced players who compete in the regional and national competition, as well as free play for all. Home matches of the league are played on Fridays, again side by side with free play for the other members.

You can wear any clothing that you will be comfortable playing in. Only shoes with black soles are not allowed. If you do not have a racket yet, you can borrow one from us.

Our principles
We have always been an association of as few rules as possible. The lack of a signboard is an example of this. Yet there are also a few 'unwritten rules' at our club. By mentioning it anyway, this is helpful for (new) members and interested parties:
- On a free play evening, there is a change after two sets. This really means going off the track. Even if it is 1-1 in sets.
- Regularly change people you play with.
- We expect the advanced players to occasionally play a game with less advanced players.
- We ask less advanced players not to be the only ones to stand with three advanced players.
- If you cannot work your bar shift, you are responsible for finding a replacement.
- The bar bill must be paid at the end of the evening.
About us
Badminton Club Leiden was founded 23 June 1972. It merged with BV Drive in 1995. We have around 80 members of all types: from adolescents to die-hard veterans, playing from a very relaxed style to playing on a really competitive level.
We cherish a friendly atmosphere in which everyone can feel at home. After playing, on Wednesdays and Fridays many of us end the evening at our own bar, with drinks and snacks and lots of talk about badminton (and other stuff).
During the season we organize several internal tournaments for fun and have our annual Club Championships. We end the season with our traditional Final Tournament, followed by a late-night barbeque.
